Supportive housing is permanent rental housing. It is designed to be:
- affordable – most tenants receive some type of subsidy
- supportive – the housing provider typically hires professional staff to enable tenants to live as independently as possible
- quality housing. The housing must meet the standards set by government funders and regulators.
Transitional housing is a type of supportive housing where the length of stay is limited while supports are provided to help tenants move on to other affordable housing.
